Suntory Beverage & Food Thailand, partnered with famous NGO, the Environmental Education Centre Thailand (EEC), have brought together four organizations--the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Krabi Province Government, and the Sustainable Krabi Foundation--with participation of the general public, to launch the Water and Environmental Education Project in Krabi Province on February 25 to 27 to promote experience sharing in environmental areas with local youths and individuals in all parts of Thailand through inspiring activities designed to build true awareness using an environmental education process that gives them hands-on experience.
Conservative groups, students, and people from the area joined in the activities, both academic and hands-on, over 3 days, totalling over 3,000 people. This project was able to successfully build awareness about the importance of natural resources and what we can do to lessen environmental impacts caused by people, including effects on natural resources and disasters caused by environmental changes, especially global warming. By building awareness and inspiring people, the goal is to engage them in environmental issues and natural resources protection. In particular, young people who will be major forces for local resources protection in different parts of Thailand will learn to treasure and cherish natural resources, leading to active contribution to the environment and emergence of a new generation of conservationists.
Ms. Nuntana Khaopluem, SVP, and head of Suntory Beverage & Food International (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said about the company's support for this project that, "Suntory Beverage & Food Thailand believes in taking action to make good things happen--things that will make a difference to society and the environment. We also believe that sustainable support for the education of Thai children is an important foundation for them to grow competently. This project is an environmental education project through which we can make our return contribution to society, the environment, and the younger generation in Thailand. Beyond an environmental campaign, it is a project that extends our knowledge, provides guidelines, and delivers hands-on experience to participants. This knowledge and experience will be very beneficial to the self-development of young people, allowing them to apply their learning to help protect the environment and deal with environmental issues in the future. In addition to our funding for the project, Suntory Beverage & Food Thailand has also supplied the EEC team and all project participants with Brand's Essence of Chicken to keep everyone physically and mentally ready for training and outdoor activities through the three eventful days."
